DC Days

Two trips to DC this month.  The first was to see Juneau friends Layla and Lindsey, there on separate business trips. Enjoyed a Cirque Du Soleil show and stayed an extra day for museum cruising.
Our nation's capital is an awesome place.  I got a little teary in the shadow of the Washington Monument. Even Nova who is new to US history appreciated the significance of monuments and memorials.
My mom flew into DC for work a week later.  She spent a few nights in Baltimore.  Here we are at "Lake" Montebello (I know I'm a nature snob but it's a reservoir people).  In the absence of natural beauty we take what we can get and walk the lake a couple times a week.
As usual, lots of laughing and silliness when we are with May.
Nova practices her reading on the epitaph above Lincoln's head.
View of the reflecting pool.  You really get that this is an international attraction when you're there.  Proudness.
I've talked with so many people who grew up in Baltimore and have never visited DC.  It's an hour and a half drive away and chalk full of history and culture.  You can see the original Kermit the Frog at the National Museum of American History for heaven's sake!  Gotta love it.
Didn't want to leave Shawn out of this post.... Here are he and Nova hula hooping it down at the Lauraville neighborhood festival.  You might notice that the sun is shining in all of these photos.  It's strange to live in a place where rain is an event.  Soaking it up!
